Writer's picture: Charles Street CooksCharles Street Cooks

A healthy alternative to fried french fries. Baked fries have an added crunch on the exterior but are still soft inside.

Ingredients:

  • 6 Yukon Gold potatoes, cut into thick fries

  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder, or more to taste

  • 1 tsp salt, or more to taste

  • 1 tsp ground black pepper, or more to taste

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

Directions:

  1. Wash and scrub potatoes to remove any dirt.

  2. Slice the potatoes and put in a colander and rinse them.

  3. Mix potato slices, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a resealable bag or marinator until evenly coated.

  4. Spread coated potato slices in a single layer, leaving space around each potato, on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Preheat oven to 425°F Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil; spray with cooking spray.

  6. Bake in oven for 20 minutes; flip fries and continue baking until crisp and browned, about 20 more minutes.

Notes:

Ask an adult for help with:

  • Slicing potatoes

  • Turning on the oven

  • Putting the tray in the oven

  • Removing the tray from the oven
