Holiday Hot Chocolate

The holidays are coming up and there's truly nothing like cozying up on a chilly winter's night with a cup of Hot Chocolate.



Ingredients:

  • 3 cups milk

  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 4 ounces chopped bittersweet chocolate

  • 4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate

  • Optional: mini marshmallows, peppermint sticks, whipped cream or other toppings


Directions:

  1. Heat 3 cups milk, 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and a pinch of salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisking, until the milk is steaming and the sugar dissolves.

  2. Gradually add 4 ounces each chopped semisweet and bittersweet chocolate, whisking until melted. Cook, whisking occasionally, until smooth. (Note: This is an extra-thick European-style hot chocolate.)

  3. Serve with mini marshmallows, peppermint sticks, whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, toasted coconut or other toppings.
