I had the opportunity to work with a little kid named Ojashwai. When I asked her what her favourite food was, she said garlic bread. I was very surprised by this response as most kids normally say some type of baked good or pasta. However, I understand why garlic bread is her favourite because it is a fantastic snack or delicious add on for dinner. Ojashwai, I hope you enjoy this recipe and get to make all the garlic bread you can!

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounce loaf french bread

  • 4-6 Tbsp butter, softened

  • 1-2 cloves of garlic crushed; or ¾ teaspoon garlic powder

Optional:

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • chopped parsley

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Lightly grease or spray sheet with cooking oil so the bread does not stick. Set aside.

  2. Slice bread into thick pieces (depending on how big the loaf is slice into desired pieces). Stir the softened butter and garlic powder in a small bowl. Add cheese and parsley if desired. Then spread evenly on top of the loaf.

  3. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.

Notes:

Ask an adult for help with:

  • Turning on the oven

  • Slicing the loaf into pieces

  • Putting the tray in the oven

  • Slicing the bread into servings

Serves: 12 depending on the loaf size
