Curried Chickpeas

An aromatic and delicious dish. This curried chickpea recipe is great as a side or as a main paired with some rice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

  • 2 tsp curry powder (more if desired)

  • 1 Tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp hot sauce (more or less)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Drain chickpeas, reserving ½ cup of the liquid.

  2. Saute onion and garlic in oil, add curry powder.

  3. Cook gently for 1 minute. Add chickpeas, fry for 5 minutes.

  4. Ass remaining ingredients and reserved liquid, simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. Serve with rice and or meat.

Notes: For saucy chickpeas, cover the pan while simmering for drier chickpeas, simmer uncovered.
