Ingredients:
Base
1 cup flour
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup melted butter
Topping
4 eggs
2 cups brown sugar
4 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
½ cup coconut shreds
½ cup coarsely chopped walnuts
2 cups of chocolate chips
Directions:
Combine flour and 2 cups of brown sugar in a bowl.
Add melted butter to the dry mix.
Preheat the oven at 350°F .
Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper so that the paper extends up the sides of the pan.
Press the mixture into the pan and bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. While that mix is baking jump to step 6.
Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, beat the eggs and add 4 tablespoons of brown sugar, flour, and baking powder. Make sure to mix well.
Fold in the coconut, walnuts and chocolate chips until well combined.
Pour the mixture over the base and bake again at 350°F for 30-40 minutes
Let cool before cutting.
Notes:
When pressing the base mixture into the pan make sure it only covers the bottom and does not go up the sides.
Ask an adult for help with:
Turning on the oven
Putting the tray in the oven
Removing the tray from the oven
Chopping the walnuts- use a food processor if a finer consistency is desired.
Serves: 10-15 depending on bar size.
