Maureen's Prairie Honey Squares

You better bee-careful with these prairie honey squares because after one bite you will be buzzing.



Ingredients:

Base

  • 1 egg

  • ⅔ cup flour

  • ½ tsp soda

  • ½ baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 cup shredded coconut

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • ½ cup chopped pecans

Cream

  • ½ cup melted butter

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup honey

Directions:

  1. Mix the melted butter, sugar and honey together in a bowl.

  2. Add the beaten egg, flour, soda, baking powder and salt to the mix.

  3. Slowly mix in the oats, coconut, vanilla and pecans and mix well.

  4. Spread the mix in a greased 12 x 8 inch pan.

  5. Combine flour and 2 cups of brown sugar in a bowl.

  6. Preheat the oven at 350°F .

  7. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. Remove from the oven and cool before serving.

  9. Cut when cooled. Enjoy!

Notes:

Ask an adult for help with:

  • Turning on the oven

  • Putting the tray in the oven

  • Removing the tray from the oven

Serves: 10-15 depending on bar size.
