Chicken and Black Bean Burger

Looking to create a more filling burger? Try these chicken and black been burger for an alternative take on a classic.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • ½ cup black beans, drained and slightly mashed

  • ½ cup cooked white rice, cooled

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • ½ cup shredded cheese

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 6 hamburger buns

  • 6 cheese slices

  • *Top burger with any other toppings

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl gently combine the ground chicken, black beans, rice, all the spices, egg, and grated cheese.

  2. Use your hands to get in there and give it a good mix.

  3. Form chicken into 6 equal sized patties and season with salt and pepper on each side.

  4. Grill the patties over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the centre is no longer pink (165°F).

  5. Place each cooked burger on a toasted hamburger bun, top with a slice of cheese and any other topping you choose and enjoy!
