Classic Tuna

The perfect tuna can be a versatile dish. Added in a sandwich, eaten by itself, or thrown into pasta this easy tuna will become a staple in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (12 ounce) can chunk light tuna in water, drained

  • 1-5 pickles, diced, add or reduce as needed

  • ¼ cup reduced-fat mayonnaise, or as needed

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 egg, mashed (optional)

  • ½ carrot, shredded or diced (optional)

  • ½ celery (optional)

  • ½ sliced tomato (optional)

Directions:

  1. Open and drain the tuna from the can.

  2. Dice the pickles and set aside.

  3. Place the tuna into a bowl with the mayonnaise and lightly stir to break up.

  4. Add garlic powder, pickles, and pepper, stir to combine all of the ingredients.

Notes:

  • Can be eaten as a sandwich. Toast two slices of bread or cut a bun and fill to desired amount.

  • Add into cooked and drained pasta for added protein or a tuna pasta salad.

  • Eat by itself if a lighter meal is desired.

  • The more you add the better it tastes. Add carrots, celery, or egg for extra protein and added flavour.

Ask an adult for help with:

  • Opening can

  • Dicing, slicing and or shredding pickles, carrots, celery, tomato
