German Pancake: Dutch Baby

Looking for a sweet and different type of pancake? Try out this German style of pancake!

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs

  • 1½ Tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • ¾ cup milk, warm

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup vanilla extract

  • 3 Tbsp butter (1 Tbsp melted)

  • Powdered sugar, for serving

  • Sliced strawberries, for serving

  • *Feel free to top with whatever you like

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  2. Combine the eggs, granulated sugar, salt, warm milk, vanilla, flour, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter in a blender or food processor until smooth.

  3. Preheat oven safe skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the pan. Pour the batter into the heated skillet and then immediately and carefully move the skillet into the oven.

  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes. It is done when the pancake achieves a rich amber colour and the sides have risen considerably.

  5. Carefully remove the pancake from the skillet and let the pan cool slightly on a wire rack.

  6. Serve warm with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries. Enjoy!
