Tofu Tacos

Tofu is an excellent source of protein. It provides all nine essential amino acids. It also contains antioxidants that can help combat chronic disease. Since tofu is low in calories but contains many vitamins and minerals, it is known as a nutrient-dense food. So, this recipe is a tasty and healthy alternative to regular beef tacos which everyone (vegetarian or not) will love!

Ingredients

  • 14 oz block, extra firm tofu, drained

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce

  • ¼ cup tomato sauce

  • 2 tsp sriracha

  • 1 tsp chilli powder

  • ½ tsp cayenne

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Olive oil

  • Tortillas

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400℉.

  2. Crumble the tofu and place it in a large bowl.

  3. Add soy sauce, tomato sauce, sriracha, chilli powder, cayenne, paprika, cumin and black pepper to the tofu. Mix until the tofu is completely coated.

  4. Place the tofu on the baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes, turning midway through.

  6. Meanwhile, toast your tortillas using a frying pan.

  7. Assemble the tacos. If desired, add avocado, cheese, sour cream, or other toppings.
